SEMINAR: Arranging Flowers for Valentine's Day
LOC/SEM 2 • One-Day Workshop, February 11 from 13:00 to 18:00

Ms. Aileen Chizuru Inoue, the instructor , is certified as a professional floral instructor, designer in the United States by the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD). In this seminar, Ms. Inoue will discuss Valentine's Day and how it is associated with florists in the United States. She will talk about the tradition of men giving gifts to girlfriends on this day in the US as well as women giving gifts to men in Japan. More important she will give a hands' on demonstration of the popular Valentine's Day floral arrangements. She will show students how to create their own floral arrangements. She will especially focus on creating wreaths of fresh flowers that students can take home with them. This workshop, scheduled for shortly before Valentine's Day, will provide an opportunity for a man to impress his girl friend with his artistic talent by presenting her with a floral arrangement he made as well as an opportunity for women to display their skills in making floral arrangements.

Note: There will be an additional fee for flowers.


Instructor: Aileen Chizuru Inoue, AIFD

Ms. Inoue has more than 35 years experience in Ikebana through the Ikenobu School. She provided ikebana for the movie "Black Rain" starring Michael Douglas and Ken Takakura. She is also the floral designer for Nicholas Cage. She has taught not only flower arranging but also Japanese classical dance and studied Tea Ceremony for many years in California. She is also a certified professional floral instructor/designer in the United States by the American Institute of Floral Designer. (AFID) American Institute of Floral Designers is the only certified professional certificate for floral designers in the United States.
