Astronomy for All

This is an introductory course on the Sun, Earth, other planets, moons, rings, comets, asteroids, and extra-solar planets. In the course, we will discuss the formation and development of the Earth and its solar system, and possibility of life on other worlds. We will discuss the structure and evolution of the Universe as a whole, as well as its constituents --- how galaxies formed out of the intergalactic medium, the birth and death of stars in these galaxies, neutron stars, black holes and quasars. We will emphasize the physical principles that govern the structure and evolution of the Universe and how the physical properties of the Universe.

Instructor: Dr. Armand Hornia has conducted research on cell-signaling, gene therapy diabetes and stem cells at Cornell University. He currently lectures on Life Science and Mathematics at Lakeland College and is intensely interested in the field of astronomy
