Chinese Language I
LOC/CHI 1 • (Saturdays 13:00 - 15:00)

The focus of this class is to introduce the Chinese language in an interactive class. In general, each class will start with easy but intensive beginning level Chinese language. IN principle, the class will be conducted in English and Chinese; however a moderate amount of easy Japanese may be used, especially in explaining Chinese characters. In addition to learning correct pronunciation and grammar, students will acquire insights into Chinese culture, mentality and manners. This course will provide students with a solid foundation inn basic level Chinese language.


Instructor: Ms. Haiyan Zhan

Dr. Zhan earned a Litt. D. Degree from the University of Tokyo and an M.A. in Comparative Culture from International Christian University in Tokyo. She also has a B.A. degree from Dalian Institute of Foreign Languages in China. She teaches Chinese language in the academic program of Lakeland College and also at International Christian University and Takushoku University.
