2008 USA Presidential Elections LOC/POL
1 • (Wednesdays 19:00 -- 21:00)
The 2008 United States Presidential Election course is an exciting new addition to the Open College catalog. Unique in structure, this class will be taught by most of the full-time professorial faculty at Lakeland College Japan. History Professor Barbara Turoff, Anthropology Professor Tracey Woodson, Computer Science Professor Luis Poza, Math and Science Professor Armand Hornia, Humanities and Sociology Professor Ned Loader, Librarian Charles Laurier, and Dean Alan Brender will each take turns giving lecture-and-discussion seminars on the United States presidential election as it develops. Each faculty member will cover the event from differing perspectives, speaking on different issues and explaining the various social, cultural, historical, and technological elements involved. Included in the course will be explanations of the American political system and its history, current grass-roots movements including blogs and other Internet resources, analysis of media coverage, and much more. This year’s election is going to be a fascinating and exciting race. Become an expert on it!
